A recent announcement from easyJet, one of the best known budget airlines in the UK, confirmed the addition of two brand new destinations on its roster from Bristol Airport.
The announcement certainly kicked off the New Year in style, as it immediately widened the choices available to those people who tend to travel from Bristol as opposed to any other UK airport. There is still something of an assumption that if you want the best choice of destinations you have to go to either Heathrow or Gatwick. But this causes problems and a great deal of inconvenience for anyone who doesn’t live close by to these two airports.
And Bristol is becoming known for offering an ever widening range of flights, including these two new ones which are headed for Bastia and Corfu.
You will have to wait for a few months yet before you can board an easyJet plane to either of these destinations though. They don’t actually take off for these destinations until near the end of May 2009. The first date for the Greek flight to Corfu is slated for the 22nd May, while the flight to Bastia in Corsica heads out for the first time just two days later on the 24th May.
However with that said you can still buy your tickets now. To do this you simply need to go to the easyJet website and you can book securely online. The website is at www.easyjet.com. But it is definitely worth keeping an eye on the Bristol Airport official website as well, for any further news or developments regarding these new services.
As things stand at the moment, the flights from Bristol to Corfu are set to fly twice a week on a Monday and a Friday. If you want to head for Bastia you will need to catch the flight leaving just once a week on a Sunday. Times have yet to be announced for either flight.
Bastia in Corsica acts as a port and is a popular place to go on holiday. The one thing that makes this a great place to go is the fact that it is still firmly set in the past. The surroundings and the many wonderful tastes, aromas and sights make for a fantastic location to spend a week or two exploring in France.
Meanwhile Corfu is best known as one of the best Greek islands to head to on holiday. There are plenty of beaches to choose from and with great weather you can expect to return home to Bristol Airport with a nice tan! While it is known for being a clubbing destination there are plenty of quieter places to head to as well. So don’t assume that a flight from Bristol to Corfu wouldn’t meet your needs for a relaxing summer holiday.
In short, if you haven’t yet booked your summer holiday why not think about flying out of Bristol Airport for a change? You might not need to make that arduous journey to a London airport any more.
